A new freeway exit numbering system has been developed to help unfamiliar drivers and tourists navigate Melbourne's extensive freeway network. A system of easy to read exit numbers will help drivers to quickly position themselves along the freeway they are travelling on. Large easy to see signs will be shown at all exits that have been fitted with the new exit numbering system. Variable message signs will give drivers information and updates regarding incidents or delays that may affect their travel. The closer drivers are to the Melbourne CBD the lower the number. Each location's exit number will be the same in both directions. The easy reference system will gradually be installed across Victoria's urban freeway system. Sydney, Australia, Monday 1 March 2010 – Optus, MTV and Blackberry are excited to announce the Top 10 entries for the 2010 OPTUS ONE80PROJECT with the finalists hailing from Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.





“The quality and diversity of ideas this year were exceptional with each entry conveying concepts that not only fit the brief but also met the requirements of a one hour television drama. The top 10 entries were of the highest calibre seen to date – a real showcase of the TV production talent that this country has to offer,” said Rebecca Batties, General Manager, Music Brands MTV Networks Australia & New Zealand.

“Every year this competition gets bigger and better and the quality of this year’s top ten is proof of this. The OPTUS ONE80PROJECT offers a unique platform allowing entrants to reach TV, mobile and online audiences. The panel includes: Emmy and Golden Globe nominee and star of movie classics Jurassic Park, The Piano and currently Daybreakers, Sam Neill; Australian actor Xavier Samuel, who has just finished filming the third instalment of the Twilight series phenomenon Eclipse; his Road Train co-star and star of Beautiful Kate, Sophie Lowe; US based MTV Films heavyweight and Executive Vice President of New Media, David Gale; and Chris McGlinn, Director of Marketing for Amalgamated Holdings Limited who brings with him over 25 years of cinema experience.
From the Top 10, the judges will pick a Judges’ Choice winning entry which will be made into a one hour drama broadcast on MTV Australia. A second winner, the Viewers’ Choice Award, will also be selected by the public in a national campaign entitled You be the Judge.

Demerit Points - VicRoads

When driving on our roads, you must follow the traffic rules. If you break any of the rules, you may receive demerit points.

A demerit point is a penalty for committing a traffic offence. The number of points youll get depends on the type of traffic offence you have committed. Youll find a list of offences and their demerit point value on our website.

Demerit points are recorded against your driver licence or learner permit and remain recorded for three years. Also, along with the demerit points, youll receive a fine.

More importantly, if you receive too many demerit points, you may lose your driver licence or learner permit.

Now, if you do end up getting demerit points, you will need to know the following:

VicRoads will send you a letter which lists how many demerit points you have accumulated, as well as the details of each offence.

If you hold a learner permit or a probationary driver license and you get five or more demerit points in any 12 month period; or if you hold a full driver licence and get 12 or more demerit points in any 3 year period, your driver licence or learner permit may be suspended.

If you reach the demerit point limit, youll be sent an Option Notice with two options to choose from.


Option 1
Will allow you to keep your learner permit or drivers licence, but if you receive more demerit points during the next 12 month period, your driver licence or learner permit will be suspended for twice as long as it would have been suspended under Option 2.

Option 2
If you hold a driver licence or a learner permit and you reach your demerit point limit, you can opt to have it suspended for three months, and then an extra one month for every additional four points.

So, lets hope you never have to deal with demerit points. Drive carefully.
