Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival in Outback Queensland
Make the pilgrimage to Outback Queensland and join the 3000 spectators who flock to the small town of Julia Creek for the annual Dirt n Dust Festival. This three-day event sees cowboys (and girls) prime their rump in the hope of being crowned Australia’s Best Bum. But, if derrieres in denim don’t grab your attention, the event is laden with opportunities to flex your outback muscle with the bike and bull events. Julia Creek is home to one of Australia’s toughest triathlons where bikes cover corrugated dirt roads, swimmers wade through near bog conditions and runners race through the blistering desert heat. They breed them tough in the outback and it’s only fitting that the events match the rugged landscape.
